  Goku  is the main protagonist of the dragon ball metaseries created by Akira Toriyama. He is the adoptive grandson of grandpa gohan, the husband of chi-chi, the father of gohan and goten, the grandfather of pan and later the great-great-grandfather of goku jr.

Cheerful, courageous and also quite naive, Goku is a saiyan originally sent to earth as an infant with the mission to destroy it. However, an accident alters this, causing him to later become Earth’s greatest defender and the informal leader of the Z fighters. Throughout his life, he trains hard and strives to be the greatest warrior possible, while at the same time using his amazing strength and skills to uphold peace.

Vegeta or Prince Vegeta, is the prince of the fallen saiyan race and arch-rival to goku. He is the eldest son of king vageta, the husband of bulma, the father of trunks and bulla, and the great-great grandfather of vegeta jr. Alongside Goku, gohan, and piccolo, he is easily one of the most prominent characters in the series, receiving more character development after being introduced than a number of other characters.

Regal, egotistical and full of pride, Vegeta was once a ruthless, cold-blooded warrior and outright killer,but later abandons his role in the planet trade, instead opting to remain and live on earth, fighting alongside the Z fighters all the while striving to become the universe‘s most powerful warrior, specifically with the mission to defeat and surpass Goku in power.

  Krillin is a supporting protagonist in the Dragon ball manga, and the animes Dragon ball, Dragon ball z and Dragon ball gt. Krillin had a brief rivalry with goku when they first met and trained under master roshi, but they quickly became lifelong best friends.One of the most powerful and talented human martial artists on earth, Krillin is courageous, a faithful ally and good-natured. He is a prominent Z  fighters, despite usually being overpowered by the major enemies. His short stature and baldness (with the exception of when he grows out his hair in the majin  buu saga aid him in his ability to provide comic relief during tense moments. During the latter half of Dragon Ball Z, he largely retires from fighting, opting to settle down with his family instead, becoming thehusband of android 18 and the father of marron.

 gohan(Son Gohan) is the first son of the series’ primary protagonist goku and his wife chi-chi, the older brother of goten, the husband of videl and father to pan. Gohan is the first hybrid (half human, half saiyan) to appear in the series. He is named after Goku’s adoptive grandfather, gohan.

Unlike his father, Gohan lacks a passion for fighting and prefers to do so only when the need to defend his loved ones arises. Nevertheless, Gohan fights alongside the Z fighters  in the defense of earth for much of his life. He eventually settles down with a family at the end of Dragon ball z, opting for the life of scholar instead.

Trunks is a protagonist in the Dragon ball manga, and the animes Dragon ball z and Dragon ball gt. He is the human and  hybrid son of bulma and vegeta, and later the older brother of bulla. In the English dubs of the Budokai and Budokai Tenkaichivideo game series, he is called Kid Trunks, to differentiate with his alternate future counterpart.

 Goten Son Goten) is a protagonist in the Dragon ball manga and the animes Dragon ball z and Dragon ball gt . He is the second and last child of the main protagonist of the Dragon ball series goku, and his wife, chi-chi, making him a saiyan and human hybrid. Goten was created in the series to replace Goku as Akira Toriyama wanted to retire Goku from the series, allowing gohan to take command. However, Toriyama was forced to bring Goku back when the fans disapproved of the decision to replace him. Goten is Gohan’s younger brother, and trunks’ best friend.

Bulma is supporting protagonist in the Dragon ball manga, and in the animes Dragon ball, Dragon ball z and Dragon ball gt. She is a scientist and the daughter of Capsule Corporation‘s founder, Dr. Brief. and is goku’s first friend.She used to be the girlfriend of Yamcha, but moved on and, eventually, became the wife of vegeta. With him she had a son named trunks and a daughter named bulla. She lives in west city all her life,

Bulma is the most significant female character in the series. Aside from goku, Bulma is the single longest-running character in the entire meta-series, being introduced in the first Dragon Ball chapter and episode, and maintaining a prominent role until the final chapter of the manga and the finall episode of Dragon ball gt

Chi-Chi is the daughter of the ox-kingwho later marries goku and becomes the loving mother of gohan and goten. She was first introduced as a shy and fearful girl, but later, as she gets older, develops a very tomboyish, tough and fierce personality, which sometimes causes her to have anger outbursts seen several times throughout the series. Despite this, she has shown her love for Goku and their sons many times throughout the series.

Frieza is one of the most significant villains in the Dragon ball mangaand the Dragon ball z anime. He also makes appearances in several Dragon Ball Z movies, as well as Dragon ball gt episodes. Frieza is a galactic emperor of an unnamed race who runs the planet rade and is feared for his ruthlessness and power. He is the descendant of chilled, the son of king cold, the younger brother of cooler, and the father of Kuriza. His name is a rephrase of “freezer.”

Broly  is a saiyan who makes his debut in the movie Dragon Ball Z: Broly – The Legendary Super Saiyan. Broly’s name is a pun off of the vegetable broccoli, which is even stated in the English version of the movie when Master Roshi accidentally refers to him as “Broccoli” while drunk.

Cell is one of the major supervillains of the Dragon Ball mangaand the Dragon Ball Z anime. He is the ultimate creation of Dr. Gero, designed to have all the abilities of the greatest fighters to have ever inhabited or visited Earth; the result is a “perfect warrior”, possessing numerous favorable genetic traits and special abilities. Cell is the only Red Ribbon “Android” to not have the Red Ribbon insignia on him. He is also one of the few Red Ribbon Androids not directly completed by Dr. Gero; the others are Android 13, Android 14, Android 15, and possibly Android 8. Both Cell and Androids 13, 14 and 15’s conceptions involved Dr. Gero’s Super Computer.

Tien Shinhan, commonly just called Tien in the English dub of Dragon Ball Z, is a former antagonist and supporting protagonist in the Dragon Ball manga and the anime series Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z, also making a few minor appearances in Dragon Ball GT. He is introduced near the end of theFortuneteller Baba Saga in the anime, and at the start of the Tien Shinhan Saga in the manga.

Heavily devoted to martial arts, reclusive and disciplined, Tien Shinhan is one of the stronges thuman within the Dragon Balluniverse. He battles alongside the other Z Fighters when major threats to the Earth surface, often courageously engaging enemies far more powerful than himself.However, he spends most of his time training with his life-long best friend, Chiaotzu.

Master Roshi, also known as the Turtle Hermit, is a major supporting protagonist in the Dragon Ball manga and Dragon Ball anime, who also makes a few appearances in Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT.

 Yamcha is a supporting protagonist in the Dragon Ball manga, and in the animes Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z, also making a few appearances in Dragon Ball GT. He is a former boyfriend of Bulma and the lifelong best friend of Puar.A former desert bandit, Yamcha was once an enemy of Goku, but quickly reformed and became a lifelong friend and ally.Brave, boastful and dependable, Yamcha is a very talented martial artist and one of the most gifted Humans on Earth, possessing skills and traits that allow him to fight alongside his fellow Z Fighters when major threats loom. However, by the latter half of Dragon Ball Z, he is largely outclassed by both his allies and their enemies, and thus retires from fighting.

Chiaotzu is a white-skinned, red-cheeked little Human who appears in the Dragon Ball manga, and in the animes Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z, also making short cameos in Dragon Ball GT. He is the constant companion to Tien Shinhan, his best friend, and along with Tien, he was one of Master Shen‘s students.
